對於日本研究者有關1938年8月18日日軍空襲衡陽機場考證的補充

Thank you very much for your research. It is very valuable because the RoCAF record says one Japanese bomber was shot down and another was damaged by the two Hawk 75s which were Commander Tang’s wingmen. Now we know that actually the bombers were only wounded. None was shot down.

I think the French fighter means Hawk 75 because the type was also used in France. The Hawk stated in the memoir should mean Hawk III which had fought with IJA and IJN aircrafts from the beginning of the war.  

The Dewoitine 510C at that time were still stationed at Kunming and flown by foreign volunteers. They did not encounter Japanese aircrafts until Sept. 1938 in Kunming.
